IEM Canada is seeking experienced and hard-working individuals to join our team as Switchgear Wiring Technician. The ideal candidate for the position will be responsible for the wiring of control panels.


 Responsibilities:
  • Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches and pliers.
  • Follow company established practices for wire termination, routing, bundles, wire harnesses and wire numbers.
  • Wire complete panels per drawings including back panels and wiring between devices/ components.
  • Mount electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices.
  • Meeting production schedules while maintaining IEM’s strictest quality standards
  • Assembly of LV and MV switchgear
  • As required

Qualified candidates must possess:
  • At least 2 years experience in assembling and wiring electrical panels, back pans, doors, etc.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, work independently
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
  • Working flexible shifts as required (which may include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays)
  • Must be a team player
  • Basic training will be provided


Physical/Mental/Environment:

Physical Demands:

  • Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%
  • Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
  • Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.
  • Hand and arm strength: requires a strong, firm grip to hold onto wires for long periods of time
  • Coordination: frequent ladder use
Mental Demands:
  • Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environment:
  • Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
